I know I have written about it a couple of times already. And no, I’m not getting tired doing it. I’ll write about it for as long as I can. The Road, a novel by Cormac McCarthy, should really be required reading for mankind. It is, by far, the best novel, and the number 1 on my list. Anyway, I lent the book to my roommate last week [or maybe the week before last week]. OK, I literally forced her to read it. I was that confident. She was able to finish reading it last night. When I woke up earlier this morning [that's around 1 am], I found it on a place where I usually put the books I’m currently reading. And I found a short note placed between the pages of the book. I’m including it in here, which I think is not really a good idea. I’m still doing it, anyway. Here it is:
“Thanks, Jonat, for sharing this book with me. I just finished reading it and I was deeply moved. [Thus the letter.] Yet I cannot include this in my favorites because of the heaviness and sadness in my heart. I don’t know if I still have the guts to read it again. Nevertheless I do agree with you that this is the best novel I’ve read so far. It is the saddest yet most beautiful story that made me weep so painfully. I couldn’t stop crying even after I closed the book and held it in my hands for a long time. Thanks again and I would definitely recommend this to anyone.”
[As sort of respect, I'm not naming her.]
This is from someone who has a heart for literature. I felt very happy when I read the note. It felt like I have done something useful, a miracle. And it could be one of the best note [letter] I have ever received from someone. I’m keeping it.
No need to un-name me… I’m even blogging about it… I’ll post my link later ;)
